OSLO, NORWAY; March 28, 2017: BASSnet™ Fleet Management Systems, BASS’ proprietary software solution for shipping, offshore and port terminals, has impressed yet another major shipping company in South East Asia, this time in the form of Nathalin Co. Ltd. (“Nathalin”), one of the largest petroleum and chemicals tanker operators in Thailand.

On 6th January 2017, an agreement was struck between Nathalin and BASS to implement the BASSnet™ suite across its three offices and on board its fleet of 38 tankers.

In search of an ERP solution that will bring together three of its ship management arms that fall under its shipping business unit, Prima Marine, – Nathalin Shipping Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), T.I.M. Ship Management Co. Ltd. (Thailand) and Nathalin Management Co., Ltd. (Thailand) – under one integrated software system, Nathalin went through an evaluation and selection process that lasted 8 months.

The evaluation process also included extensive discussions regarding the integration (transfer of data) between BASSnet™ and Microsoft™ Dynamics AX, a third-party accounting software, currently used by Nathalin, for the transfer of Purchase Order and Invoice information.

“As our group continues to grow, it is imperative that we adopt a system that understands the ever changing business requirements, regulations and challenges of the maritime industry. In the last 8 months, BASS has proven to us that not only can BASSnet™ handle a huge database across many offices and vessels, but its built-in industry best practices and proven workflows readily caters for most of our existing processes,“ says Mr. Channarong Tungfung, Chief Operation & Technical Officer of Nathalin Group.

As one of the largest petroleum and chemicals tanker operator in Thailand, Nathalin will benefit from BASS’ Vetting module (available in the BASSnet™ SAFIR – Safety & Quality Management – module), which is designed specifically for tankers and caters for the planning and preparation of various types of vetting inspections to be carried out for different tanker types. Nathalin can ensure that it has better prepared vessels for vetting inspections as their personnel can view the ‘requirements matrix’ of the Oil Major directly in the system and pro-actively perform a self-assessment before the actual inspection is carried out.

“BASSnet™ SAFIR is a powerful reporting tool to enhance the safety culture across the entire organization. We built the Vetting module to help our customers ensure continuous compliance with international standards, accommodate industry changes and Oil Major Requirements,” says Derrick Lee, Vice President of Sales Asia at BASS.  “We believe that it will help to improve ship-shore communication as Nathalin will have a clear ‘across the fleet’ visibility of all outstanding observations from the inspection,” he further added.

A full suite for fleet management and ship operations, seamlessly integrated for safe and secure data flow between vessels and onshore offices, BASSnet™ Fleet Management Systems gives managers a total overview and control over their operations ashore and aboard. With the BASSnet™ suite, Nathalin will find it easier and more cost-effective to comply unerringly with international environmental rules and regulations and tougher environmental sanctions on the maritime industry and ensure safe, reliable and efficient ship operations.

“The biggest benefit we see is the operational efficiency that Nathalin gains by maintaining a single all-encompassing system, rather than multiple disparate systems. Nathalin has placed great confidence in us, and in return, we will continue to innovate and support them to the best of our abilities,” says Derrick Lee.

Since the New Year, BASS has successfully added several big players in the shipping industry to its growing list of customers. The signing of Nathalin will contribute significantly to BASS’ presence and growth in the Asia Pacific market.
