Dayang chooses BASSnet™ Maintenance to optimise efficiency

OSLO, Norway, January 3, 2014: BASS software solutions are growing to be a firm favourite of the offshore oil and gas industry, as proven recently by its latest contract with hook up and commissioning (HUC) and topside maintenance leader, Dayang Enterprise Holdings Berhad of Malaysia.

DESB Marine, a subsidiary of Dayang Enterprise Holdings Berhad of Malaysia, which is among the largest HUC and topside maintenance outfits in the region, has selected the BASSnet™ Maintenance module to create a planned maintenance system for managing its vessels’ components, spares list and job maintenance processes.

BASSnet™ Maintenance improves efficiency by enabling the timely and accurate reporting of vessel maintenance information while constantly updating essential data. All components including a list of spare parts, transfer of materials and maintenance jobs impacting ships are fed into the system. In addition, users can also supplement the information by including photographs, measurements and reports.

“We are highly impressed with BASSnet™ Maintenance because it has proven to add value to maritime and offshore services by streamlining operations,” said DESB Marine’s Technical Manager, Douglas Foo. “BASS’ software solutions are outstanding for their innovative use of IT to optimise resources, and we expect to reap highly attractive savings,” he said.

The signing by DESB Marine is a strong endorsement of BASS especially since it’s associate company, Perdana Petroleum Berhad, has been operating on the solutions since 2008.

To date, Perdana Petroleum has installed this system on 12 of its vessels.

“With BASS as a key software partner, DESB Marine is assured of delivering maximum value since all processes can be managed at optimal efficiency,” said Mark Ravi, BASS’ Vice President for Sales, Asia.

For DESB Marine, the deployment of BASS software comes at a critical moment, when the company is ramping up its operations after securing a full plate of jobs. This will require it to maintain its operating platforms in prime condition to cope with the additional projects. Furthermore, any lag in efficiency will prove highly costly to Dayang, which has among the healthiest balance sheets in the oil and high capital expenditure gas sector.

Earlier this year, the holding company was the largest beneficiary of the Pan Malaysia HUC awards from Malaysia’s national oil company, Petronas, securing some 40% of the jobs on offer.

“Our HUC and topside maintenance contracts will demand the total engagement of our resources, so it is critical to ensure that we are supported by a top-ranking software solutions provider with a track record for creating great value,” Foo added.

Dayang Enterprise Holdings Berhad is a publically traded company with a market capitalisation in excess of US$1 billion, making it among the largest oil and gas companies in the region.
