OSLO, NORWAY; [12th July 2021]: BASS Software Ltd, the leading provider of maritime ERP solutions, was recently awarded a contract with Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) to upgrade and implement the BASSnet Fleet Management Systems across its entire fleet of more than 230 vessels. The project is currently being undertaken and WSM, the premier maritime logistics and ship management company, aims to complete it soon.

The BASSnet software suite will be used at all WSM offices globally (including Oslo, Southampton, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Seoul, and Mumbai). The deal includes the addition of two offices from the joint-venture Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management (WASM) in Hamburg and Rotterdam and 70 new ships will leverage BASSnet to drive fleet management excellence.

WSM – a BASS customer since the Norwegian software provider’s inception in the early 1990s – conducted a comprehensive evaluation of software vendors across the market before deciding on the upgrade.

“BASSnet is a key enabler for maritime companies to streamline processes across their organisation and expand their business with additional offices and vessels. We are excited to see the new enhancements and features in the latest version being taken into use by WSM”, said Per Steinar Upsaker, CEO and Managing Director of BASS. “It is the best choice for future-proofing operations.”

Core modules of this agreement include BASSnet Maintenance and BASSnet Procurement. The deal also includes additional sub-modules, such as BASSnet’s Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) feature, to expand end-to-end processes.

Close cooperation and structured project implementation, with close management support, were key factors for project success.

“Regular communication between stakeholders was essential,” said Wong Nyuk Lan, VP of Service & Support at BASS. “We also closely monitored quality and delivery at all times.”

With a smooth transition managed by BASS, this project is anticipated to bring benefits immediately upon the upgrade going live.

“WSM is a long-time, valued customer,” added Per Steinar. “Their support and feedback have been a tremendous benefit over the years. We’re pleased that BASSnet will bring greater efficiency and productivity to WSM, and look forward to strengthening our partnership even further as we continue to enhance and advance our product offerings with new technology, app development and API integrations.”

This project has certainly been a testament to BASS’s innovative, end-to-end solutions that bring business value to ship owners and managers by streamlining maritime operations.
