BASS has received Type Approval from international classification society RINA for BASSnet Neo – Fleet Management Systems, versions 3.x and 4.x. This achievement provides independent recognition that the platform meets RINA’s published requirements for ship management and planned maintenance software.

Independently assessed against RINA requirements

BASSnet Neo has been approved as Category I software for ship management and planned maintenance. The certification covers key capabilities across:

  • Maintenance Scheduling and Tracking
  • Equipment Registry and Hierarchy
  • Spare Parts Inventory
  • Counter Updates
  • Reporting and Compliance.

As part of the approval process, RINA assessed BASSnet Neo against RINA Rules Part C, Chapter 3, Sections 1, 3 and 6, as well as the RINA Guide on Software Acceptance in Marine Applications (GUI/17).

The assessment included a review of the platform’s functional description, design specifications and user documentation, together with functional testing of the Planned Maintenance System and an audit of BASS Software as the manufacturer, without any remarks & exceptions

Independent assurance on fleet maintenance and compliance

The RINA Type Approval gives ship owners and managers added assurance that BASSnet Neo’s planned maintenance, inventory and compliance capabilities have been independently examined by a recognised classification society.

For RINA-classed fleets, the certification provides a documented basis for using BASSnet Neo to support applicable class survey arrangements, including Planned Maintenance Scheme, subject to RINA’s requirements and approval for the individual vessel or fleet.

More broadly, this achievement reinforces BASS’s commitment to providing secure, reliable and class-aligned digital solutions that help shipping companies manage maintenance activities, strengthen compliance and maintain greater visibility across their fleet operations.

Certificate handover

The RINA Type Approval certificate was officially presented to BASS during a handover ceremony held –on 3rd September, at SMM Hamburg.

The certificate was presented by Kai Reichelt, BDM Testing Systems and Components
