Sealink connects with BASSnet™ Human Resource Management Solution
OSLO, NORWAY, November 11, 2013: Leading shipping solutions provider BASS is going deep into Malaysian waters, signing on Sealink Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of Sealink International Bhd, to equip it with the state-of-the-art Human Resource Management solution, BASSnet™ HRM 2.8.
“We are excited that our software will drive major efficiency gains at Sealink, which is a big name both in Malaysia and regionally,” said BASS’ Vice President of Sales – Asia, Mark Ravi. “It will set the pace for other shipping concerns to improve their productivity, and hence, their bottom lines,” he said.
The contract, finalised at the end of June, involves equipping the publicly-traded Sealink’s fleet of more than 40 ships with BASSnet™ HRM 2.8, the latest edition in Human Resource Management solutions.
BASSnet™ HRM 2.8, a web-based solution, enables users to access the system from any location, and is designed to take crew planning and scheduling to a new level of efficiency.
Users can fully plan and manage charterer trading requirements at all times, ensuring that vital crew-related information, performance evaluation records, competence and training status and development plans, training needs and records are available to the users’ global crew management organisation, thus helping to streamline work processes.
“Sealink’s selection of BASSnet™ HRM 2.8 is a logical choice in view of the multiple improvements it will enjoy in crew management for its fleets,” Mark added.
For BASS, the inclusion of Malaysia-based Sealink to its global family of clients is the latest testament of its success in addressing the software needs of the shipping and oil and gas support services industries.
The deal paves the way for Sealink to benefit from the full range of BASS net™ Fleet Management Systems that are designed to provide one complete solution for ship owners and managements.
With BASSnet™ HRM 2.8, Sealink will enjoy a significant cut in administration time and costs, with seamless information sharing of vital crew data with all parties across the crew management processes.
In addition, this module helps users track monetary dealings related to the crew, including earnings, deductions, allotments and wage summaries, among other things.
BASSnet™ HRM 2.8 also enables users to manage crew-related matters comprehensively, namely to easily keep records, maintain crew headcounts, synchronise seafarers’ data and track payroll.
Not only can the crew members update their own biodata and upload resumes, auxiliary service providers such as training centres, travel agents and medical doctors can also update relevant records, with the management being automatically alerted of any changes.
In a nutshell, the solution ensures that users have the right resources for the position at the right time. Users can use the crew matrix to search for the right seafarers based on rank and competence levels to meet crewing requirements for specific vessel types.
With this Sealink deal, BASS further cements its ties with oil and gas service providers in Malaysia. Prominent offshore users of BASS software solutions include Intra Oil Services Sdn. Bhd. (subsidiary of Perdana Petroleum), Icon Ship Management Sdn. Bhd. (subsidiary of Icon Offshore Berhad), Bumi Armada Berhad and Jasa Merin (M) Sdn. Bhd, among others.
Globally, BASS’ larger clients include Neptune Orient Lines, Oldendorff Carriers, Compagnie du Ponant, Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, “K” Line, and Grindrod Shipping, to name a few.
